Oil prices fell on Thursday, following the announcement that China started using its internal strategic crude reserves in order to counteract the rising energy prices. Despite a drop in US crude and gasoline stocks, Brent oil lost 1.6% to end at $71.45 a barrel. WTI crude closed 1.7% lower at $68.14 a barrel.

Daily (19.08.2021): Oil prices lost more than 1% on Wednesday, following an increase in US gasoline stocks

Crude oil prices weakened on Wednesday, weighed by an increase in US weekly gasoline stocks, as indicated by the EIA. Despite a decline in US crude reserves, Brent oil fell by 1.2% to $68.23 a barrel and WTI crude ended 1.7% lower at $65.46 a barrel.

Daily (30.07.2021): British gas prices surged to record highs on Thursday as supply picture in Europe remains tight

Crude oil prices continued to increase on Thursday, marking another settlement at the highest in over two weeks after U.S. government data revealed a weekly drawdown in domestic crude, gasoline and distillate inventories. Hence, Brent crude soared by 1.8% to settle at $76.05 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude increased by 1.7% to close at $73.62 a barrel.

Daily (09.07.2021): Oil prices moved upwards on Thursday amid bigger than expected drop in U.S. inventories, OPEC impasse

Crude oil prices rebounded on Thursday amid much bigger drop than expected in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories, but uncertainty about global supplies continued to limit upside following a dispute between OPEC heavyweights over production plans. Hence, Brent crude rose by 69 cents, or 0.9%, to settle at $74.12 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude added 74 cents, or 1%, to close at $72.94 a barrel on the NYMEX.

Crude oil price growth was counterbalanced on Wednesday by a strong increase in US gasoline reserves and pessimistic views over demand. Consequently, Brent oil stagnated at $72.22 a barrel, while WTI crude edged 0.1% lower at $69.96 a barrel.
