EMEA to lead natural gas processing capacity by 2017

A new report presented by GlobalData, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are likely to build the most new natural gas-processing capacity in the coming years, enhancing the overall region’s capacity by more than 10 trillion cubic feet by 2017, followed by the Americas and Asia-Pacific region. The region, combined with Iran and Saudi Arabia, will account for 43% of new capacity worldwide over the forecast period.

Gazprom increased its gas supplies to Europe

Last year, Gazprom increased by 16 % the supply of natural gas to Europe to 161.5 billion cubic meters, with Germany, Italy and the U.K. ledding the increase in gas imports from Russia. European customers such as Germany’s RWE AG and Italy’s Eni SpA obtained lower gas prices under their long-term supply contracts with Gazprom. Supplies to Italy increased by more than 60 %.

Eni and GasTerra have signed a long-term gas supply contract

Eni has signed a deal with GasTerra over long-term Dutch gas supply contracts following which the Italian oil and gas group would obtain a major price cut and would boost its results. Eni is currently renegotiating contract terms with a range of other companies amid weaker demand in Europe. The renegotiation of contracts with GasTerra will have a positive impact on 2013 results.

Daily: UK gas prices tumble on oversupplied system

Brent crude oil futures traded steady at over $109 a barrel on Thursday as the market ignored a move by the U.S. Federal Reserve to curb its monetary stimulus programme, and remained focused on U.S. crude stock withdrawals. Brent crude declined 17 cents to $109.46 a barrel by 09:22 GMT, after ending $1.19 higher on Wednesday. Meanwhile, U.S. oil eased 3 cents to $97.77, after ending 58 cents up.
