TAP has won the tender to carry gas to Europe

The Shah Deniz II consortium has announced yesterday that it has made the choice and selected the Trans Adriatic Pipeline to carry gas to Europe, defeating the Nabucco West consortium. TAP is expected that will transport more than 20 billion cubic meters per year of natural gas from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan, through Greece and Albania to Italy and further into Western Europe. Nabucco West and TAP were the only two bidders in the project to transport the Azerbaijani gas.

Fluxys is considering taking a stake in TAP project

According to managing director at Fluxys, Walter Peeraer, the Belgian gas network operator is considering taking a share in the Trans Adriatic Pipeline Project. Fluxys may take part to the project if the Shah Deniz consortium decides whether it will carry gas to Italy (TAP) or to Austria (Nabucco WEST). In the case where TAP is selected, it is expected that Fluxys could join the project by August.

European top energy companies to launch North Sea Power to Gas Platform

A European consortium composed from eleven top companies have established the North Sea Power to Gas Platform, to jointly develop the concept of Power-to-Gas (P2G) – the conversion of renewable electrical power into a gaseous energy carrier like hydrogen or methane.
