European Commission to create SMR Industrial Alliance
In response to calls from the nuclear industry, research community and nuclear safety regulators, the European Commission will establish an Industrial Alliance dedicated to small modular reactors (SMRs) in early 2024, European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson has announced.

Oil prices recovered slightly on Monday, after Saudi Arabia and Russia reaffirmed their crude production and export cuts until the end of the year. Consequently, Brent crude closed at $85.18 per barrel, and WTI crude ended at $80.82 per barrel.

EU electricity market deal paves way for France to ditch divisive ARENH scheme

France and Germany disagreement on CfDs continues
EU energy ministers are seeking to resolve differences over the use of contracts for difference (CfDs) to support nuclear energy investment on Tuesday. Some countries support the initiative as they see CfDs as key to incentivising investment in an industry with uncertain rates of return on capital. Others believe CfDs will disrupt the pricing mechanism for energy markets in Europe.
