Daily (15.11.2018): European year-ahead power prices fell by over 1% on Wednesday, tracking weaker CO2 and coal markets

Oil prices surged on Wednesday, recovering from recent lows as OPEC partners are focusing on output cuts in order to support the market. Nevertheless, gains were still limited by the escalating trade war between the worlds’ biggest economies — U.S. and China. Both Brent crude and WTI rose 1% to settle at $66.12 and at $56.25 a barrel respectively.

Ford reaches its manufacturing emissions target eight years ahead of schedule

The US-based automotive manufacturing company, Ford, has announced it has reached it’s CO2 emissions target eight years in advance. The firm set the target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions produced through its manufacturing operations by 30% per vehicle produced in 2010.

Global carbon emissions reached a record level in 2017

The global energy demand increased by 2.1% last year, leading to a hike in carbon emissions for the first time since 2014, according to IEA. The statistics show that CO2 level jumped more than twice compared to 2016.
