Italy: Geothermal, solar and wind farms supplied 19.2% of electricity in April

Geothermal, solar and wind power plants provided an amount of 19.2% in the Italian electricity mix in April 2015, according to statistics by Italy’s grid operator Terna SpA. This represents a 2% increase against April 2014.

EIA: U.S. green electricity generation reaches 14.3% in the first half 2014

Renewable energy sources, including biomass, geothermal, hydropower, solar, wind provided 14.3% of net U.S. electricity generation the first six months of 2014, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information (EIA) in its latest "Electric Power Monthly" report.

2013: a great year for Enel and for geothermal energy

Poland: coal demand could be reduced by 50% by 2030

Poland is one of the fastest-growing economies in the European Union and the power that drives it comes from the dirtiest of fossil fuels- coal. But, according to a new study made by researchers in Germany and Poland, renewable energy groups and environmental group Greenpeace, Poland could reduce by almost 50% its demand for coal by 2030 shifting to wind, solar, hydro, biomass and geothermal energies.

Worldwide geothermal heat pump system capacity to boost by 150 pct by 2020

The installed capacity of geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems around the world is expected to grow by nearly 150 percent by 2020, from 52.7 GW to 127.4 GWt, according to a report “Geothermal Heat Pumps”, released by Navigant Research.
