EDF Energies Nouvelles to acquire the wind energy portfolio of Séchilienne Sidec in France

EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) has bought the wind energy portfolio for a total of 56.5MW from the independent energy producer Séchilienne-Sidec. The deal is part of Sechilienne- Sidec’s drive to focus on biomass and solar power generation. The achievement is part of EDF's goal to further develop its business while consolidating its presence in France.

Scotland to curb subsidies for biomass plants over 15MW

The Scottish government has decided to curb subsidies for biomass power plants that generate over 15MW of electricity as part of its Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme announced in October 2012 due to concerns that they will consume too much wood.

UK: Ecotricity to build a 66MW wind farm in Lincolnshire

2012 record year for new PV installations in Germany

The Federal Network Agency has recently published Germany’s photovoltaic installation data and the latest feed-in-tariff reduction figures for December and the whole last year. At the same time as December saw just 330 MW of new plants added, 2012 registered a new installation record, while FITs will decrease by 2.2% over the next three months.
