German utility RWE’s first half profit hit by nuclear exit

The German energy group, RWE said that its first-half net profit sharply plunged by 39% to €1.7 billion ($2.4 billion), amid supplementary costs related to the country’s decision to phase out nuclear power and a tax on nuclear fuel.

Crude oil futures increased in the post-settlement trading on Tuesday after released report by API about a surprise 5.2 million-barrel draw in the U.S. stockpiles previous week. NYMEX crude for September delivery traded at 81.75 dollars a barrel, up 44 cents after a trading range between 75.71 and 83.05 dollars. Meanwhile, by 20:00 GMT, ICE Brent crude for September delivery traded at 104.21 dollars a barrel, up 47 cents.
