U.S. and Brent crude oil futures increased again on Wednesday on rising optimism that the euro zone and US debt issues would be resolved. NYMEX crude contract for September delivery traded at 98.40 dollars a barrel, lifting 54 cents after a trading range between 96.93 and 99.37 dollars, while ICE Brent crude for September delivery settled at 118.15 dollars a barrel, up 1.09 dollars, after trading from 117.06 to 118.86 dollars.

EDF confident that UK nuclear projects are on target

EDF, France’s electricity giant, announced on Wednesday that it is slowing down the building of a new generation nuclear reactor in France by two years and at a nearly double cost than the estimated one, following a couple of deadly accidents and safety reviews requested after the Fukushima disaster.

U.S. crude oil futures pared gains in the post-settlement trading on Tuesday after industry data indicated a huge drop in domestic crude inventories last week. By 20:35 GMT, U.S. crude for August delivery settled at 98.05 dollars a barrel, up 2.12 dollars.

U.S. and Brent crude oil futures sank on Monday following a sudden drop in prices supported by rising worries about a dissonant debt crisis in the euro zone and a hot dispute in the United States. By 14:15 GMT, NYMEX crude for August delivery valued 95.10 dollars a barrel, down 2.14 dollars, having hit in an earlier trading a high value of 97.69 dollars. ICE Brent for September delivery settled at 116.05 dollars, down 1.21 dollars after a trading range from 114.66 to 117.80 dollars.
