On Wednesday, although the U.S. Energy Information Agency's (EIA) announced a decline in U.S. commercial crude oil reserves in the week ending March 3, after ten consecutive weeks of increases, oil prices lost ground as concerns grew stronger over the impact of a U.S rate hike. Brent crude edged 0.8% lower, to settle at $82.66 a barrel.

OPEC and the International Energy Agency both increased their demand forecasts for the year on Wednesday, shaking off the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) report of a large increase in U.S. crude inventories, which resulted in only a slight decline in oil prices. Hence, Brent crude oil edged down at $85.38 a barrel.

Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday, as a conference of Russian, Ukrainian, French, and German negotiators in Paris failed to produce any concrete results. In addition, the weekly EIA report revealed a decrease in US strategic oil reserves, driving prices higher. Despite an increase in weekly crude stockpiles, both Brent oil and WTI crude jumped by 2% to $89.96 a barrel and $87.35 a barrel, respectively.
