Daily (09.12.2021): Prospects of limited French nuclear output sent European spot power prices upwards on Wednesday

Oil prices increased on Wednesday, as concerns over the Omicron variant continued to ease. Furthermore, a decline in crude stocks in the United States lent additional support to prices. However, gains were limited by a decrease in US strategic reserves. As a result, both Brent oil and WTI crude edged around 0.5% higher at $75.82 and $72.36 a barrel, respectively.

Daily (03.12.2021): EUAs hit a new record level close to 80 EUR/tonne on Thursday

Crude oil prices rebounded on Thursday after OPEC+ surprised the market yesterday choosing to stick to its plan of increasing oil output by 400 000 barrels per day in January. Hence, Brent crude rose by 80 cents, or 1.2%, to settle at $69.67 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude increased by 93 cents, or 1.4%, to end at $66.50 a barrel.

Daily (26.11.20201): European carbon prices rallied to a new high above 74 EUR/t on Thursday due to speculative and compliance buying

Oil prices held steady on Thursday amid thin liquidity conditions due to US market closures for Thanksgiving. Reports that the U.S. continues to exert pressure on Russia to increase output had little effect on crude oil markets yesterday. Hence, Brent crude ended flat at $82.22 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude slipped by 0.4% to $78.10 a barrel.

Daily (19.11.2021): European carbon prices hit a fresh all-time high above 69 EUR/t on Thursday amid speculative buying

Oil prices increased slightly on Thursday, but the market was unable to reprise its recent highs as China seems ready to release some of its oil reserves, in apparent collaboration with the United States to fight back against OPEC output cuts. Hence, Brent crude settled 96 cents, or 1.2%, higher at $81.24 a barrel. U.S. WTI crude closed 65 cents, or 0.8%, higher at $79.01 a barrel.

Daily (09.11.2021): British gas prices continued to gain ground on Monday as relatively low flows from Russia erased hopes of supply increase

Crude oil prices continued to climb on Monday, primarily following the decision from OPEC to hold back on production despite calls for increased output. The passage of a $1 trillion U.S. infrastructure spending package and news that Saudi Arabia lifted prices for crude exports lent further support to crude prices.
