Turkey looking for Turkmen gas for TANAP

Taner Yildiz, Turkish Minister for Energy, has said that Turkmenistan is likely to join Azerbaijan in supplying gas into the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) through Turkey to the EU border thus helping to reduce Europe’s reliance on Russian gas.

Russia to lead in global pipeline construction until 2016

According to a report made by experts from Global Data, which gives information on planned pipeline lengths by the top five countries, Russia will build more pipelines than any other country in the world in the next four years by adding 14,053 km of pipelines, accounting about 15% of the pipeline length to be constructed globally during this time, and a 63% share of the European total.

Bulgaria starts construction of gas pipeline with Romania

In 2009 Bulgartransgaz EAD and S.N.T.G.N. Transgaz S.A. signed a Memorandum of agreement according to which the two countries should cooperate in the construction of the Gas Interconnection Bulgaria – Romania Project.

Nabucco project obtains Hungarian permit

Hungary is now the first country to successfully finish the permitting process for the Nabucco project. The Nabucco pipeline will cross 384 km of Hungarian territory and has received the last environmental permit it needs to begin construction in the eastern European country. According to Managing Director of Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH, Reinhard Mitschek, this is an important step forward for the project.

Italy: Snam obtains a € 400 million loan for the construction of the 2 new gas pipelines

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP) have approved today a loan agreement totaling up to 400 million euros for a 20-year term for Snam Spa, with a first tranche of 300 million, already approved by EIB, while a second tranche will be available by 2012.
