China: Coal consumption continues to grow
China is dealing with a big air quality problem, so recently the Government has announced that they will reduce their coal consumption share from its current 67 percent to 65 percent by 2017. The country intends to convert coal in syntethic gas, but this will result in more carbon dioxide emissions released because converting coal to make synthetic gas and then combusting the gas to make electricity will double the amount of carbon dioxide emissions released in the atmosphere.

Daily: British gas drops to a nine-month on higher temperatures forecasts
Brent crude oil increased for a fourth consecutive session on Friday, posting its first weekly gain since February on optimistic U.S. economic data and worries that eventual Western sanctions on Russia’s energy sector could trigger output disruption in the world. Brent climbed 24 cents to end at $108.07 a barrel. U.S. crude increased by 39 cents a barrel to close at $101.67, after rebounding over $1 in each of the past two sessions.

Spain might be entryway for gas to Europe
Europe’s reliance on Russian gas supplies might be reduced with the help of Spain’s complex gas infrastructure at the time when the plans to transport gas across the Pyrenees will turn into reality, as stated on Thursday by Antoni Peris, the chairman of the Spanish gas association.
