According to the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, Bulgaria has agreed further cuts to guaranteed rates for new solar power installations. Last June, the country has already halved the tariffs as the costs of building solar generating facilities have suddenly plunged.

The wind farm will have 339 wind turbines which could provide power to over 40% or about 1 million of Scotland’s householders, generating 1.5 GW at an average cost of about 5.7 billion dollars. Construction of the wind farm is planned to start in 2015 and will be completed by 2020.

Italian renewables giant Enel Green Power (EGP) has fully grid-connected the new Moldova Noua wind farm in the Banat, Romania. The fully operational plant includes 21 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 48MW, and will be able to generate some 130 million kilowatt hours, therefore avoiding the emission of over 70 thousand tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

According to a study made by IMS Research, US Photovoltaic installations more than doubled in the first half of 2012, reaching 1.7 GW and is expected to reach 4.3 GW in 2012, a growth of over 120% in comparison to 2011. The country is expected to become the third largest PV market in 2012, accounting for 40% of new capacity growth.
