Gamesa to sell four wind farms in France and Germany

Spanish wind energy company Gamesa, has signed a contract to sell four wind farms, three of them in France and one in Germany, with a total installed capacity of 56MW. The farms will be sold to European Sustainable Power Fund 2, a renewable energy fund for institutional investors owned by German real capital asset manager KGAL.

Germany: First in Europe in offshore wind growth

According to the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), Siemens dominated the offshore wind turbine market during the first six month of 2012, installing 108 wind turbines across Europe. Siemens and RePower were most active in places like UK and Europe, installing 422 MW of wind turbines.

UK: Good Energy to build Britain’s biggest solar farm

UK’s energy group, Good Energy, would build the UK’s biggest solar farm which will cover 224 acres by putting 135,000 solar panels on farmland in the Cornish countryside. It will cover an area six times bigger than the project at Marley Thatch Farm, in Devon, approved last month, which will cover 37 acres and have 28,000 photovoltaic panels.

DONG Energy, Siemens: Major offshore wind turbine deal

Danish energy group DONG Energy and the German giant Siemens have inked a major deal, involving the supply of wind turbines. The deal is aimed to strengthen Siemens market position as a supplier of offshore wind turbines.

EWEA: European offshore wind capacity rise by 523.2 MW in first half 2012

According to the European Wind Energy Association, in the first half of 2012 wind offshore capacity reached a total of 523.2MW, in comparison with 348.1 MW installed in first half of 2011. The power was connected on eight wind farms, six in UK waters, one in Denmark and one in Germany.
