Areva to build a new wind turbine factory in Scotland
French nuclear and renewables group Areva has signed a contract with the investment agency Scottish Enterprise to site one of the three new factories it is opening in Europe, in Scotland, the plant would manufacture turbines for use off the coast of the UK, each generating 5 megawatts of electricity, which could supply 6,000 homes per year and could create up to 750 jobs.

Germany could install 111GW of renewable capacity by 2017

EDF has completed Europe’s biggest PV plant in France
EDF Energies Nouvelles has completed the Toul- Rosierès photovoltaic plant in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department of eastern France. The 115 MW plant comprises about 1.4 million thin film photovoltaic panels produced by U.S. manufacturer First Solar, and is likely to produce enough energy to heat the houses of about 55,000 people.

Scottish Government launched the” Warm Homes Fund”
The Scottish Government has launched a £50 million fund that will invest in green energy schemes having the objective to help heat homes across Scotland. According to some experts, even if it does not solve all of the country’s energy problems, this should help to drive the energy sector in the right direction.
