UK: renewable production up 19% last year

According to figures published by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, electricity produced from renewable energy sources increased 19% last year in comparison to 2011 levels, representing about 11% of all electricity generated in UK, in comparison to a year before when it accounted 9.4%. Meanwhile, consumption of fossil fuels decreased if compared to 2011 levels.

UK electricity production increased 20% in 2012

In 2012, electricity generated from renewables represented 11.3%, increasing in comparison to 9.4% in 2011. Generally, renewable electricity generation increased 20%, to 41.1 TWh in 2012 from 34.4 TWh in 2011, while capacity increased 26% to 15.5 GW.
