Germany: First in Europe in offshore wind growth

According to the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), Siemens dominated the offshore wind turbine market during the first six month of 2012, installing 108 wind turbines across Europe. Siemens and RePower were most active in places like UK and Europe, installing 422 MW of wind turbines.

Italy: offshore oil and gas exploration projects to resume after Berlusconi’s ban in 2010

The Mario Monti’s government has canceled the ban on offshore oil and gas exploration imposed by Silvio Berlusconi in 2010, following the Macondo well explosion in the Gulf of Mexico, causing the largest U.S. offshore oil spill.

EWEA: European offshore wind capacity rise by 523.2 MW in first half 2012

According to the European Wind Energy Association, in the first half of 2012 wind offshore capacity reached a total of 523.2MW, in comparison with 348.1 MW installed in first half of 2011. The power was connected on eight wind farms, six in UK waters, one in Denmark and one in Germany.

Nord Stream pipeline is ready to become operational

The second underwater gas pipeline of Nord Stream has been successfully completed, ahead of the schedule. The 1,224 km offshore pipeline will join the onshore landing between Russia and Germany in August. This second line is expected to become operational in the last quarter of this year.
