Daily (18.07.2023): Spot electricity prices in Europe rebounded by more than 200% on Monday, amid plummeting wind and solar output
On Monday, oil prices declined for the second consecutive day as traders grew more skeptical about the resilience of China's economic rebound in the absence of government assistance. Consequently, WTI crude experienced a 1.7% drop , reaching $74.15 per barrel. At the same time, Brent crude also declined by 1.7%, settling at $78.50 per barrel.

Wind and solar to produce over a third of global power by 2030

Portugal doubles 2030 goals for solar and hydrogen capacity
Portugal has more than doubled its 2030 goals for installed capacity of solar energy and electrolysers to produce green hydrogen, as it aims to decommission natural gas-fired power plants by 2040 and possibly become carbon neutral by 2045.

Renewable share of German power use climbs to 52.3% in first half
Renewable energy accounted for 52.3% of Germany's power consumption in the first six months of the year, up 3.1 points from a year earlier, on higher solar production and lower overall electricity usage, data showed on Tuesday.
