Daily: European power up along with coal, carbon prices

Brent crude increased over $108 a barrel on Wednesday after crude oil inventories in the U.S. declined to the lowest level since March 2012. Meanwhile, Brent boosted 24 cents to $108.43 a barrel by 14:50 GMT, after falling to its lowest in more than a month in the previous session and U.S. crude rose 81 cents to $106.23, after slipping $1.17 per barrel on Tuesday.

Russia to curb oil supplies to Belarus by 40% as the dispute escalates

Russia will cut oil pipeline deliveries to Belarus by 42% in the fourth quarter under an export schedule unveiled on Tuesday. The decision came amid a dispute over the arrest in Minsk of a Russian businessman, the head of the Russian potash company Uralkali.

Daily: British wholesale gas at lowest level since March

Brent crude oil prices recorded a six-week low on Tuesday, as the major world powers met to draft a resolution that would require the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons. Brent crude for November delivery traded $1.88 per barrel lower at $108.19, after trading as low as $107.41, the weakest settlement price since August 8. Meanwhile, U.S. crude for October delivery settled $1.17 per barrel lower at $105.42, below the 50-day moving average of $106.60, after trading as low as $105, its weakest level since September 3.

Europe: Renewables share in power generation set to increase by 40% in 2020

The renewables’ contribution in Europe’s generation capacity is expected to increase to at least 40% by 2020, overtaking the capacity supplied by coal, natural gas and oil, declared the region’s grid operators group Entsoe.
