Poland has downsized its plan to cut feed in tariff for renewable energy from 9.7 billion zlotys to a total of 2.3 billion zlotys ($738 million) by the end of the decade, according to an updated draft bill on renewable published on Friday.

Poland to publish its new shale gas law in 2013

Poland envisages publishing its new shale gas regulation in 2013, declared Piotr Wozniak, the deputy environment minister responsible for the enacted law, adding that it would be better if a shale gas tax waited until at least 2016.

Poland’s major coal producer postponed new power plant project

The EU’s first hard coal producer, Kompania Weglowa, has delayed the construction of its coal-fired power plant in 2020, with two years of delay. The 1000 MW power plant will cost about 5 billion Zloty (1.5 Billion dollars), and will burn between 2.5 and 3.5 million tons per year of hard coal producing roughly 5-7 TWh per year.

GE to provide wind turbines for Polish wind farms

GE will supply 38 wind turbines for the development of four wind projects in the second phase of Darlowo Wind Energy Center being developed in Northern Poland. For these wind projects will be utilized GE’s 2.5 MW class of wind turbines.
