New solar feed-in tariffs in Germany and target for 2010
Germany’s Parliament has consented to raise the rate of photovoltaic installations per year in 2010 to 2,500 MW – 3,500 MW from 1,100 MW – 1,700 MW per year and also abolish the tariff for ground mounted systems on crop land.

A carbon tax to be set in the European Union
The European Commission proposed a “tax carbon” on road transport, buildings and agriculture as part of the new directive regarding energy taxation, which would be approved only if the member states of the European Union unanimously agreed on.

Russia and Turkey agreed on nuclear power plant deal
On Wednesday, Russia has signed a nuclear power plant project with Turkey amounting $20 billion, in order to establish a strong partnership after two Cold War-era rivals. Russia will be responsible for this project by owning a controlling stake.

Investment for the Nord Stream Natural Gas pipeline - the first phase.
Consortium Nord Stream, together with the shareholders - Gazprom, BASF / Wintershall GmbH, E. ON Ruhrgas AG, and NV Nederlandse Gasunie - have announced the successful achievement of fund raising for the first phase of a gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea. In the first phase, the total amount of funds increased to 3.9 billion euros, making possible the installing of the first pipeline as scheduled, in April 2010.
