Spain: Iberdrola will invest $5 billion in Mexico for a six-year period

Spanish utility Iberdrola intend to make an investment of minimum $5 billion (3.7 billion euros) in Mexico for a period of six years through 2018, as stated by Chairman Ignacio Sanchez Galan on Monday, since the country opens its traditionally enclosed energy market to private investment.

Spain: Iberdrola signed LNG contract estimated at $5.6 bln

Spanish power firm Iberdrola declared on Friday it had signed with Cheniere Energy Inc a liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and acquisition deal estimated at $5.6 billion for a period of 20 years.

Siemens strikes the second onshore wind deal in Peru

Siemens, the German multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate, has been awarded a contract by Spain-based Cobra Energia to supply 97MW of onshore wind turbines to the Tres Hermanas wind project in Peru. The new wind plant is the second project that Spanish developer Cobra is performing with Siemens in Peru.

European power markets register the first growth since 2010

The power trading volumes on the European wholesale market increased last year for the first time in three years but were nevertheless below 80 percent of their maximum level registered in 2010, according to a report presented by the research firm Prospex, which investigated the markets growth in several countries, such as Germany, the Nordic region, Britain, Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands.
