Crude oil prices retreated on Monday as China’s crude imports slid by 15% year- on- year in May to a five-month low, heightening demand concerns. Hence, Brent crude eased by 0.6% to settle at $71.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude slipped by 0.6% as well, to end at $69.23 a barrel.

Crude oil prices started the week on a front foot, as strong economic figures from China and a rapid coronavirus vaccination pace in the US overshadowed the concerns over increasing virus figures in India. Hence, Brent crude added 0.55 to settle at $67.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude increased by 1.4% to close at $64.69 a barrel.
