2012 record year for new PV installations in Germany
The Federal Network Agency has recently published Germany’s photovoltaic installation data and the latest feed-in-tariff reduction figures for December and the whole last year. At the same time as December saw just 330 MW of new plants added, 2012 registered a new installation record, while FITs will decrease by 2.2% over the next three months.

E.ON considers Europe plant closures
German utility E.ON presented the market with a table of European power stations under consideration for closure due to unprofitable generation margins. The list was published on the company's capital market day in slides for analysts.

UK: Centrica abandons plans to build new nuclear power plants
Centrica has announced that it intends to abandon plans to build new nuclear power stations in the UK because of the rising costs following changes to regulations after the Fukushima disaster in 2011. Centrica had been planning to build four plants with the French supplier EDF, but has now pulled out of the partnership.

GDF Suez submits an offer to build a 1.32 GW coal plant in Turkey
The consortium called Ada Enerji, led by French energy group GDF Suez and consisting of International Power and Mimag Enerji, has applied to Turkish energy regulator EPDK for a license to build a coal-fired power plant with capacity of 1,320 MW at the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.

Bulgaria nuclear referendum failed on low voter turnout
The controversial referendum, which took place on Sunday in Bulgaria, on whether to build the nation’s second nuclear power plant, has been declared invalid because to a low voter turnout.
