Swedish Vattenfall cancels the sale of Germany’s Gasag

Swedish utility Vattenfall and German peer E.ON announced that they cancel the sale process of their joined participation in Gasag, the eastern German gas supplier, as consequence of its weak bid.

Gas trading volume doubled in Germany last year

According to British consultancy Prospex, German gas trading volume increased more than twice in 2009, reaching 955.2 TWh, up from 407.8 TWh in 2008, mainly due to faster merging of gas transmission zones.

PPL is buying an E.ON unit

The world’s most important company by sales, Germany's E.ON, has signed a contract, concerning the selling of its Kentucky’s based unit, to U.S. PPL, for $ 6.7 billion (5 billion Euros) in cash. This deal makes PPL shares decrease by 8%, but it will increase its business mix of regulated and unregulated operations.
