Irish Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte, and his British counterpart, Ed Davey, are to sign an agreement to export wind energy from Ireland to power millions homes in the UK. Ireland has agreed to sell wind energy to Britain in a move that could create thousands of jobs by 2020.

USA: The wind energy Production Tax Credit extended for one more year

The USA Congress has extended the Production Tax Credit (PTC) for a year, which will allow continued growth of the energy source that installed the most new electrical generating capacity in America last year. The new version of the tax will cover all the projects that start construction in 2013. After being approved by the Senate and the House it is now expected to be rapidly signed into law by the President Obama, who always supported the wind energy tax credits during the process.

Greece reveals new projects to improve gas infrastructure

The Greek National Natural Gas System Operator (DESFA) announced a new 1.7 billion Euros investment plan which aims to increase domestic and industrial usage of natural. The objective is to augment the use of gas to 100% within the next 10 years, reducing oil consumption and lignite production. For this reason DESFA has launched many new projects.

USA to become third largest photovoltaic market in 2012

The U.S. photovoltaic market registered a considerably increase in the first six months of 2012 reaching 1.7 GW and it is expected that will reach roughly 4.3 GW for all the 2012, according to IMS Research. Also IMS revealed that the U.S. market has grown by more than 120%, while in the same period installations reached only 750 MW last year.

Enel Green Power has completed a new wind farm in Romania

Italian renewables giant Enel Green Power (EGP) has fully grid-connected the new Moldova Noua wind farm in the Banat, Romania. The fully operational plant includes 21 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 48MW, and will be able to generate some 130 million kilowatt hours, therefore avoiding the emission of over 70 thousand tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
