EU and China sign a deal on greenhouse gases

The European Commission (EC) announced that the EU development commissioner Andris Piebalgs and Chinese commerce minister Chen Deming have signed a financing agreement promoting the environment transition towards a low-carbon economy and a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in China at an EU-China summit in Brussels.

Tax rebates for natural gas imports in China

China will offer a tax rebate for its growing imports of natural gas, as well as for piped gas from Central Asia and seaborne shipments of LNG. The rebates will be in force from 2011 to 2020 and will be applied in case of higher costs of imports than the domestic wholesale prices.

It’s official, no more nuclear in Switzerland by 2034

Switzerland decided on Wednesday to gradually phase out its five nuclear reactors by 2034, a theme debated among politicians and uprising doubts concerning nuclear energy. The act was approved with 101 voters in favor, 54 against and 36 abstentions.
