SPI has recently announced that it has completed all the necessary permits and agreements in order to start the construction of a 2 MW solar energy facility (SEF) to be located in Evros, a North Eastern region in Greece. This is the second company’s project already developed in Greece.

Gamesa, a Madrid –based wind Energy Company, started the year by signing several contracts in order to strengthen its presence in the global energy market. The company signed an agreement with Iberdrola to provide onshore wind turbines until at least 2022, aimed to be installed for planned projects.

The French electricity company EDF has inked a deal with Italian shareholders that will give it majority control in Edison, Italy’s second-biggest power supplier. Edison, which has a market value of about 4 billion euros (5.2 billion U.S. dollars), is now controlled by EDF and a group of Italian investors led by regional utility A2A, which hold their stakes through holding company Delmi. EDF unveiled in a statement that the preliminary agreement included the acquisition of Edison by EDF and the acquisition of Edipower by A2A.
