Crude oil prices fell on Monday, with Brent slipping below $100 a barrel as the Covid outbreak reached record levels in China, raising concerns about oil demand. Hence, Brent crude dropped by $4.30, or 4.2%, to settle at $98.48 a barrel, its lowest close since March 16. WTI crude fell by $3.97, or 4.0%, to settle at $94.29 a barrel.

Crude oil prices ended higher on Friday, on worries about the continued Ukrainian crisis and insufficient production from OPEC members. Moreover, a winter storm that hit the US, impacting production and supply, also boosted prices. As such, Brent oil rose by 2.4% to $93.27 a barrel and WTI crude gained 2.3% at $92.31 a barrel.

Crude oil prices continued to strengthen on Wednesday, on the back of a sharp drop in US crude reserves, to the point of approaching multi-year records set last October. Hence, Brent oil gained 1.1% at $84.67 a barrel and WTI crude rose by 1.8% to $82.64 a barrel.
