Finnish EPR receives operating licence

The Finnish government today granted utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) an operating licence for the first-of-a-kind EPR at Olkiluoto. Once it enters commercial operation early next year, the 1600 MWe pressurised water reactor will supply some 15% of the country's electricity demand.

Cavendish contracted to demolish Dounreay reactor

Cavendish Nuclear has been awarded a three-year, multi-million pound contract to dismantle and demolish the oldest reactor on the Dounreay site in Scotland, the Dounreay Materials Test Reactor (DMTR). The award of the contract followed a competitive tendering exercise.

Novovoronezh unit 4 completes upgrade

Loading of nuclear fuel into unit 4 of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant in Russia has been completed. The procedure is part of large-scale modernisation work on the VVER-440 reactor and the 43rd time it has been carried out there since it started operations in 1973.

Macron clarifies French energy plans
