Daily: Crude oil prices soar across both continents on strong equities, Ukraine unrest

Brent crude oil prices climbed on Tuesday on violent rapports in Crimea, while the American benchmark skyrocketed to its highest level in a week on strong build in U.S. equities. Brent crude oil rose by 55 cents to settle at $106.79 per barrel, after touching a six-week low on Monday. Meanwhile, its equivalent WTI oil benchmark closed $1.62 higher at $99.70 per barrel.

Poland: a coal-fired unit of about $1 billion to be built by Hitachi-led consortium

Hitachi-led consortium won a contract of about 3.25 billion zlotys ($1 billion dollars) from Poland’s main utility group PGE to build a coal-fired unit of a capacity of 430-450 MW, according to a member of the conglomerate. The unit is likely to be constructed at PGE’s Turow plant in south-eastern Poland.

Bulgaria: ultimatum to power distributors to pay back debt
