Solar PV demand up 2 GW in 2013

According to a new report offered by NPD Solarbuzz, the global solar photovoltaic (PV) demand is estimated to increase by 2 GW, reaching 31 GW in 2013. A large amount of the 2 GW will come as a result of strong demand from the Asian markets, where almost 50% of increase will be registered, in countries as China, India and Japan, leading to a capacity addition of around 11 GW in 2013

It’s official: London Array the largest wind farm in the world

London Array has officially become the world’s biggest operational offshore wind farm. Last week, 141 of the 175 turbines turned to produce power for the first time, providing 507MW of capacity. The project is a joint venture between Danish firm DONG Energy (50%), UK energy giant E.ON (30%) and Abu Dhabi renewable company Masdar (20%).

IAEA: World nuclear power capacity increases in 2012 after Fukushima meltdown

World nuclear power generation recorded a slight increase in 2012, after a decline in the previous year aftermath the Fukushima catastrophe in Japan, according to a new report released by UN atomic agency (IAEA).
