Gas cap could slash German power price massive 72%

The introduction of a European gas price cap could slash the German wholesale power price by up to a whopping EUR 309, or 72%, from its current level next winter, an analyst said on Thursday. However, it would still not be enough to see prices revert to levels they were before Russia’s war in Ukraine, Ryan Alexander, research lead at Aurora Energy Research, told Montel’s Austrian Energy Day.
