The UK and French Governments have pledged to beef up the two countries' cooperation regarding the defense, nuclear energy and climate policy as well as trading opportunities and skills. New offshore wind installations in Europe posted a new record in 2013, with 1.57GW of capacity added, a one-third increase (34%) over 2012, according to figures unveiled by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). However, EWEA warns the growth is set to halt because the European offshore market is in a period of slowdown.

Algeria is aiming to increase its oil and natural gas production by 50% and 100 percent respectively within 10 years helped by major exploration success last year and by shale gas which would have an important role to achieve the ambitious plan. The minister projected Algeria's recoverable reserves at between 25 and 30 trillion cubic feet.
