Crude oil futures retreated on Tuesday, with Brent crude rathe flat following a day with no major events. However, expectations that OPEC+ may decide to further boost crude production starting in August added further pressure on oil prices. Hence, Brent crude steadied at $74.81 a barrel. At the same time, U.S. WTI crude decreased by 1.1% to $72.85 a barrel.

Daily (16.06.2021): European carbon prices dropped by 2.8% on Tuesday amid larger-than-expected German EUA allocation

Crude oil prices continued their steady uptrend on Tuesday, with the market still focusing on the increasing hopes of a post-coronavirus demand recovery, and even though numbers are rising again in the UK, the overall optimism is still dominating. Hence, Brent crude rose by 1.6% to settle at $73.99 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude increased by 1.8% to $72.12 a barrel.

Daily (10.06.2021): Carbon EUAs gained around 2.5% on Wednesday, lifted by strong auction results and bullish energy prices

Crude oil price growth was counterbalanced on Wednesday by a strong increase in US gasoline reserves and pessimistic views over demand. Consequently, Brent oil stagnated at $72.22 a barrel, while WTI crude edged 0.1% lower at $69.96 a barrel.

Oil prices saw another day of losses on Thursday as investors remained concerned about a possible return of Iranian supply, the rise of U.S. crude stocks and rising coronavirus figures in Asia. Hence, Brent crude shed by $1.55, or 2.3% to settle at $65.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude declined by $1.42, or 2.2% to end at $61.94 a barrel.

Daily (13.05.2021): Carbon EUAs climbed by more than 4% on Wednesday, on strong auction results and investor interest

Oil prices increased on Wednesday, as crude inventories in the United States diminished slightly. Meanwhile, the tense situation at some American gas stations, after the shutdown of a major pipeline, lent additional support to prices. Hence, Brent oil was 1.1% up at $69.32 a barrel and WTI crude ended 1.2% higher at $66.08 a barrel.
