Daily – UK Prompt Gas Prices Up to Almost Two-Week Highs

Brent crude futures slightly increased on Wednesday morning ahead of U.S. Federal Reserve policy meeting expected to bring in further steps to stimulate the economy. Brent crude added 18 cents to $110.72 a barrel by 10:00 GMT, while U.S. crude for November delivery dropped 48 cents to $86.44.

Poland eyes shale gas production from 2014

According to the Polish Minister, Donald Tusk, Poland may start to produce commercial shale gas as soon as 2014, move that could reduce its energy dependence on Russia. Moreover, the Prime Minister is confident that by 2035, Poland will be able to supply its internal market from its own source.

Gazprom joints three major partners in South Stream gas pipeline

Three energy majors, Italy’s Eni, France’s EDF and Germany's Wintershall, have joined Russian energy giant, Gazprom as to build jointly the South Stream gas pipeline, which is aimed to transport Russian gas to Southern and Central Europe via the Black Sea and Bulgaria bypassing Ukraine.

EDF announces higher energy tariffs ahead of winter

British Gas to produce green gas from food waste

UK’s major energy provider, British Gas and Bio Group, a renewable energy developer launched a plan to build a power plant of £5 million ($8.1 million) which will convert commercial food waste into renewable gas, enough to cover yearly energy demand of up to 1000 households.
