British Gas rejects the Big Switch Scheme

The energy giant, British Gas has said that it would not take part in so-called Big Switch scheme which is aimed to help consumers negotiate better tariffs on gas and electricity bills. This campaign was proposed by consumer group Which? and aims to sign up as many households as possible and then attempt to negotiate cheaper energy tariffs from major suppliers on their behalf.

Bulgaria gives green light to South Stream project

Following a meeting on 30 March between the head of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, Alexey Miller and Bulgaria’s newly appointed Minister of Energy and Economy Delian Dobrev, it was announced that the final investment decision on the construction of the South Stream pipeline, aimed at ensuring direct supplies of natural gas from the producer to the consumer, will be taken by 15 November.

ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, BP to develop a large-scale LNG project in Alaska

The oil majors, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, BP and TransCanada have agreed on a plan to focus on a large-scale liquefied natural gas project at the Point Thomson gas fields in Alaska, US by May 2016.
