Turkey and Azerbaijan to build the TANAP gas pipeline

Turkey and Azerbaijan signed an agreement for the construction of a new pipeline, called Trans-Anatolia Gas Pipeline (TANAP), which would transport gas from Shah Deniz II fields in the Caspian Sea across Turkey and would become part of the basis of a new Southern Corridor gas route to European markets.

Gazprom strikes a deal with Israel to develop gas reserves

During a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, the Russian gas giant, Gazprom agreed to open a subsidiary in Israel that will help to develop large offshore gas reserves.

Daily: Brent up $91 on US storm fears

Brent crude oil traded up above $91/bbl on Monday on support for a weaker output following a threat of a storm which halted nearly a quarter of US offshore crude and gas production and as the main euro zone leaders backed a $156 billion plan to revive growth in the debt-hit region, move that supported prices.

Statoil: global energy demand up 40% by 2040

Global energy demand is expected to increase by more than 40 per cent towards 2040, according to Statoil’s annual outlook for global economics and energy markets – Energy Perspectives 2012, as economic output more than doubles and prosperity expands across a world whose population will grow to nearly 9 billion people. Meanwhile, by 2030, global oil demand is set to reach a plateau level of around 100 million barrels per day, as gas and renewables account for a greater share of the energy mix.

Eni to develop shale gas in Ukraine

Italian energy major Eni has signed a deal with Ukraine’s state owned Nadra Ukrayny and UK Cadogan Petroleum to purchase a 50.1% stake in WestGasInvest, the holder of nine shale gas license areas in Lviv Basin, covering about 3800 square kilometres.
