Paris Agreement ratification approved by EU

The EU Parliament has endorsed the ratification of the Paris Agreement. During the vote at the beginning of the week, a total of 610 members voted in favor, against 38 who said no to the authorization and 31 abstentions.

Total purchases cheaper the Chesapeake's Barnett Shale assets

French oil and gas company Total will enhance its exposure to U.S. shale gas by acquiring 75 percent of Barnett Shale assets from Chesapeake, taking advantage of a far lower price than it paid for its initial 25 percent holding.

Scotland and wind turbines reached an important milestone

For the first time on record, wind turbines alone in Scotland provided 39.5 GW of electricity to the National Grid, the equivalent of the country’s total electricity needs. The electricity consumption of the country was 37.2 GW, revealing that wind turbines have generated more electricity than was used in the whole of Scotland on a single day.
