Brent crude oil futures traded above $108 a barrel on Wednesday with investors skeptical whether to lock positions ahead of a U.S. Federal Reserve policy decision on a plan to slash its monetary stimulus. Brent crude dropped 10 cents to $108.34 by 13:23 GMT, after settling nearly $1 lower on Tuesday. U.S. oil rose 17 cents to $97.39, after settling 26 cents lower.

Britain is moving ahead with plans to accelerate the search for shale oil and gas, as a British government report has found that more than half of the country could be suitable for shale gas fracking. The government published a new report which claims the energy source will not have a detrimental effect on the environment.

According to a new research made by ExxonMobil, the world’s largest oil and gas firm, in about eleven years gas will be the world’s second main fuel on an energy-equivalent basis, only behind oil. Natural gas will surpass coal as a global energy source in part because of the green benefits it offers.
