Oil prices are continuing a choppy sideways trade in absence of news. Uncertainty over the potential ramifications of the Delta wave which could jeopardize the energy demand recovery put pressure on crude prices. Hence, Brent crude settled at $74.48 a barrel, posting its first loss in six sessions. U.S. WTI crude lost 0.4% to close at $71.65 a barrel.

Unions repeat call for nuclear's inclusion in EU taxonomy

Nuclear energy must be included in a delegated act of the European taxonomy, 18 trade unions in the energy sector from 10 European Union countries have told Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission (EC). In a joint letter, the unions called for "a dialogue with the purpose of nuclear energy to play its full potential and build an economically efficient and socially just carbon-free Europe by 2050".

French scheme to support electricity production from renewables gets EU nod

A French aid scheme to support renewable electricity production complies with EU State aid rules, the European Commission’s antitrust chief said on July 27, adding that the measure will help France achieve its renewable energy targets without unduly distorting competition and will contribute to the European objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
