Daily (29.07.2021): UK Gas prices on the forward curve hit record highs over 100p/th on Wednesday, tracking higher oil and carbon markets

Oil prices strengthened slightly on Wednesday, following a drop in US crude reserves. Gains, however, were limited by continued worries over the Covid pandemic. Brent oil edged 0.4% higher to $74.74 a barrel and WTI crude increased by 1% to $72.39 a barrel.

EU electricity demand rebounds without more emissions

Electricity demand in the European Union has returned to pre-pandemic levels without a corresponding rise in emissions, according to a report published Wednesday by an energy think tank. An analysis of data from grid operators showed that electricity demand in the EU during the first half of 2021 almost matched the demand in the same six-month period two years earlier, the report by Ember said.

Naturgy to plough $16.5 bln into renewables, networks by 2025

Spanish power group Naturgy said on Wednesday it plans to invest 14 billion euros ($16.54 billion) mostly to ramp up its renewable generation capacity and transform power and gas networks to boost core earnings around 30% by 2025.
