bp today unveiled plans to invest up to £50 million (around $60 million) in a new, state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) battery testing centre and analytical laboratory in the UK. bp has previously announced its intention to invest up to £18 billion in the UK’s energy system by the end of 2030; this additional new investment is a further example of bp’s commitment to the country.

Oil prices rose on Friday as attention shifted to the OPEC+ meeting this week and waning hopes that the producing group increasing supply soon. Thus, Brent crude oil price settled 2.7% higher to $110.01, WTI crude rose by 2.3% to $98.62 per barrel.

Oil prices decreased on Tuesday as investors worried about dwindling consumer confidence and prepared for the release of an additional 20 million barrels of crude oil from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve. As such, WTI crude diminished by 1.8% to settle at $94.98 per barrel. At the same time, Brent crude ended 0.7% down at $104.40 a barrel.
