UK Government will not subsidize new gas storage facilities

Energy Minister Michael Fallon has announced that the UK Government has rejected calls to subsidize new gas storage facilities, saying it would be too costly for bill payers. Ministers added that the UK gas market is functioning well in attracting gas from various sources in order to meet current and future demand and said that its decision will save bill payers more than 750 million pounds in the next 10 years.

UK was 6 six hours distance from finishing its gas supplies in March

At the end of March this year the reserves of natural gas detained in storage were at one of their lowest level, due to an unusually cold winter and intensified problems at a processing plant in Norway with flows of gas supplies to Britain via the Langeled pipeline which fell significantly, along with other supplies from Belgium, being just six hours away from finishing its gas supplies.

Brent crude shed toward $110 a barrel on Wednesday, declining for a second straight day as increasing oil inventories in the United States and recent pessimistic data fuelled worries about demand from the world's top consumer. U.S. crude oil prices were under pressure on worries about a prolonged pipeline outage in the Midwest.
