GM inked an agreement with A123 for EV batteries

General Motors (GM) recently announced that it signed a contract with A123 Systems for the production of batteries aimed to be used in the next generation of GM’s electric cars. A123 is a developer and manufacturer of lithium ion batteries and systems. Under the signed agreement, the company will produce fully integrated electronic components.

Wind power continues to increase in Q2 of 2011

U.S. wind power capacity continued to increase in the second quarter of 2011, with 2,151 MW of installed capacity in the first half of 2011 compared to 1,250 MW during the same period in 2010, with an increase of 72 percent, while a comparative stable energy framework supported the increase of wind power.

SunPower to report lower profit in the second-quarter of 2011

SunPower Corp. announced a decrease in revenue in the second the quarter by 147.9 million dollars, compared to a loss of 6.2 million dollars, or 7 cents a share, a year earlier, in the context of low demand across Europe. According to the Chief Executive of SunPower, Tom Wemer, the company will try to raise its profit by developing new projects and cutting manufacturing costs.
