China’s installed power capacity could reach 300 GW by 2020

According to the report released by the Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association, the Global Wind Energy Council and Greenpeace, it is likely that China’s wind power sector will maintain the 1st place also in 2012. Furthermore, China intends to realize an accumulated on-grid wind power capacity of more than 100 GW by 2015 and 200 GW by 2020, according to a national plan on renewable energy development released by the National Energy Administration.

China’s solar target to double to more than 40 GW by 2015

China is likely to double the installed solar power capacity target by 2015 to 40GW, which is a progress indicator in the 12th five year plan of the world’s second-largest economy. Only 18 months ago, it was reached at 5 GW, than it was doubled to 20 GW and now 40 GW. According to some forecasts, it is likely that China will double its 2020 PV target, from the current 50 GW to 100 GW.
