Novatek in talks with Germany and other EU countries

Novatek OAO, Russia's largest independent gas producer is in talks to enlarge its gas trading operations in Germany and other European countries, becoming the first Russian company to face Gazprom’s export monopoly. Novatek has already signed a contract with German utility EnBW to provide with 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year from October 2012 for a 10 years period.

China’s natural gas consumption to rise to 230 bcm by 2015

The National Development and Reform Commission released new data according to which natural gas consumption in China will reach 230 billion cubic meters in 2015, as the Asian country has approved the natural gas development plan for the current 12th five year economic plan for 2015.

Gazprom to make an offer for Greek energy firm

Almost 17 bidders from 12 countries, including Gazprom, are bidding to acquire the Greek gas companies DEPA, the public gas supply corporation of Greece, and DESFA, a fully owned subsidiary of DEPA. At present, the Greek Republic owns a 65 % stake in the company and a 35 % stake is held by the refining company Hellenic Petroleum.

Bulgaria will begin the construction of Nabucco West in January

According to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the construction of the Bulgarian division of the Nabucco West gas transit pipeline could start around January 10, 2013 and the construction would take one year and a few months.
