Portugal, Spain to formally request extension of gas price cap on Wednesday
Portugal and Spain will formally ask the European Commission on Wednesday to extend the temporary Iberian cap on prices for natural gas and coal used by power plants, the Portuguese Environment Minister Duarte Cordeiro said on Tuesday.

French bill on accelerating nuclear new build progresses to Senate
The French Senate has begun discussing a bill aimed at accelerating procedures related to the construction of new nuclear facilities near existing nuclear sites and to the operation of existing facilities. In February last year, President Emmanuel Macron proposed the construction of six new EPR2 reactors, with an option for a further eight EPR2 reactors to follow.

Oil prices drifted lower for the first time in eight sessions on Monday, with China announcing 60,000 Covid-related deaths in the past month further stoking demand concerns. Hence, Brent crude declined by 82 cents, or 1% at $84.46 a barrel. U.S.WTI crude eased by 1.3% to $78.85 a barrel.
