The investment in renewables in the UK hit record levels and is easily exceeding investment in shale gas and other forms of fossil fuels, according to a new report released by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

Dong Energy to divest 50% of its German offshore wind farm project
Denmark’s Dong Energy, the biggest developer of offshore wind farms, has agreed to sell 50% of the 252MW Gode Wind 2 offshore wind farm project in Germany to a consortium of Danish pension funds (PKA).

Alstom to build a €450 million concentrating solar plant in Israel
French engineering group Alstom alongside BrightSource and NOY Infrastructure & Energy Investment Fund secured loans from the European Investment Bank and the Bank Hapoalim for the construction and operation of the Ashalim Thermal Solar Power Station in Israel.

European Commission and industry leaders to invest €3.7 billion in biomass energy
The European Commission, in collaboration with industry companies, including Coca Cola, is investing as much as €3.7 billion in order to use untapped biomass and wastes resources in Europe to generate fossil- free and greener products.
